Lowell Alan Sibert, 83, of Rockford went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 15, 2017 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Jacksonville, IL, the son of Eldridge and Evalena Sibert. Lowell earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Illinois College, Jacksonville, and his M.S. in Chemistry from the University of Wyoming, Laramie. Married Virginia (Ginny) Stewart on June 9, 1956. Lowell and Ginny were blessed to be parents and grandparents of a wonderful family that was Lowell's earthly love and treasure.
His career years were spent at Standard Oil of Ohio (Sohio) in Cleveland and then at Sundstrand Aviation in Rockford, where he retired as a Principal Chemist in 1991. Lowell enjoyed many hobbies and loved to travel with his wife.
Survived by his wife, sons Mark (Nancy) Sibert, Columbia, MO, Todd (Joanna) of Mounds View, MN, Scott (Dawn) Sibert of Woodbury, MN, grandchildren Jenna, Daniel, Aaron (Emily), Thomas, Brianna, Benjamin, Joshua, and Paul Sibert. Preceded in death by an elder brother and sister.
Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 1 p.m. at First Free Rockford, 2223 N. Mulford Rd, where Lowell attended and was a member of the Cornerstone Class. Visitation at 12 p.m. until the time of service. Private family interment was held at Scandinavian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family and will go to several mission organizations that were dear to Lowell's heart. Grace Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family.
