Linda Rose Hines, 73, of Rockford, formerly of Elgin; died on October 10, 2023. Born August 25, 1950 in Chicago; daughter of William and Helen (Washington) Anderson. Graduate of Loretto Academy High School. Linda obtained her Bachelor's Degree and teaching license from Loyola University and her Master's Degree in Literature from Northeastern Illinois University. She retired from the Chicago Public School system, where she was employed as a teacher at Kelvyn Park and Taft High Schools. Member of St. Joseph Parish in Elgin. Linda was a talented quilter, supplying several quilts to the Quilts of Valor Foundation, an organization serving veterans. She also enjoyed crocheting; and was an avid reader. Linda was a source of wisdom for her family and circle of friends. When they needed advice, she communicated directly from a place of compassion and love; she wasn't one to mince words or sugarcoat her advice. She was truly the most amazing mom ever, and is greatly missed by her daughter; Angela (Estel) Ray, Angela's father; Bradford (Marie) Hines; granddaughters, Emily and Elysia Ray; and devoted friend of the family, Rosa Robinson. Preceded in death by her parents. Visitation, Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 10 to 11 am; followed by a funeral service at 11 am at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services; 4301 N. Main St. Rockford. Fr.
