Leslie Carrol Bellah, 68, of Kirkland, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Sunday morning, June 4, 2017 at OSF St. Anthony Rockford.
Les was born in Kokomo, Indiana on December 15, 1948 to Ray and Peggy Bellah. During his life, he was devoted to public service within the Village of Kirkland. He served as a Village Trustee, starting in 1982 and as Village President until 2017. He always put others before himself and never expected anything in return. His passion was to help, to support, and to serve. He cherished the friendships he built during his time serving the Village of Kirkland. He carried a sense of pride in his community every where he went.
Les is survived by his wife of 48 years and best friend from childhood, Patsy; son, Scott (Jamie) Bellah and daughter, Shannon (Brian) Lee; grandchildren;Lizzie Sechrest, Naomi Franklin, Maddy Bellah, Carter Lee and his beloved brother, Jerry Bellah. In addition, the close extended family members Les loved and adored include honorary grandchildren Aubrey Lynn and Callie Jo Gabbard (Ashley and Billy), Hailey Tomlinson and Trevor Williams and special friends Terri D'Amato and Larry Wallace. He is preceded in death by sisters; Kay Bellah-Massey, Doris Kreig, Amanda Brown, and Lyn Abbott; brothers; Glen Bellah, Dennis Bellah, David Bellah, Art Kreig, and best friend Bob Isenberg.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kirkland Veteran's Memorial and Safe Passage in DeKalb would be appreciated. A memorial scholarship fund will be created in Les' name through Alpine Bank at a later date.
A celebration of life is planned to honor the many precious memories we all share of Les Bellah at Franklin Township Park in Kirkland, IL on Saturday, June 24th at 2:00 P.M. Everyone is welcome to help us celebrate this humble man!!!!!
