Kenneth Scott Chartrau, 49, of Machesney Park; died on August 4,2025. Born August 20, 1975 in Rochelle; son of Ronald P. and Linda (Diesel) Chartrau. Graduate of Rochelle High School, class of 1993. Early in his career, he worked as an Audio Visual Technician, installing sound systems and other equipment. He was also employed as an Electrician in Minneapolis; when he returned to the area, he took over his mom's business, The Piano Works; tuning and repairing pianos.
Ken loved music - writing many songs he had copywritten, including "Gone But Not Forgotten". He also recorded many songs with his various bands 3rd Degree, Moontower, Sleeping Budha and most recently Chartrau & Lensing.
Survived by his parents; Ron and Linda; brother, Greg Chartrau; brother-in-law, Guillermo Sarmiento; Aunts, Patricia Lachler, Joy Chartrau; nephews and nieces, Beckett, Elliette, Harrison, Mateo; friends, Matt Zawislak, Josh Stevenson, Brook Miller, and Cory Lensing. Preceded in death by his sister, Christine Sarmiento. Ken loved to be with his nephews and niece and they all loved their uncle Ken.
Memorial visitation on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 10:00 am at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2336 Freeport Rd. Rockton; followed by a Celebration of Life a 11:00 am, Pastor Dan Herman will officiate. Immediately following the service, family will host a luncheon at the church. Share a memory or condolence at
