Kathleen "Kathy" Ann Weaver, 64, of Shirland, passed away peacefully at home on October 13, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born March 8, 1961, in Rockford, she was the daughter of Robert and Barbara (Swanson) Johnson. A proud graduate of West High School, Class of 1979, Kathy built a life grounded in love, creativity, and care for those around her. She was united in marriage to Ronald Weaver on June 19, 2009, and together they shared years filled with laughter, family, and the simple joys of home. They enjoyed traveling and taking motorcycle rides, as well as their annual bike trip to Summerfest.
After a varied and fulfilling career with companies such as Amerock and Taylor Freezer, Kathy dedicated the last 15 years of her professional life to serving the residents of Medina Nursing Center. No matter the job, she approached it with diligence, kindness, and a strong work ethic that reflected who she was - steady, dependable, kindhearted and caring.
Kathy found peace and purpose in nature, very much so a free spirit. She was most at home among her flowerbeds, a tranquil space she cultivated with meticulous care and deep affection. Her flower garden was a reflection of her beautiful soul; bright, colorful and full of life. She had a soft spot for the birds that visited her yard, especially the hummingbirds she adored so much. Whether it was leaving oranges for the orioles or filling her many feeder, she took great pride in witnessing the beauty she brought to life.
Kathy was also a talented seamstress and crafter with a natural gift for creativity. She loved sewing her own clothes, making purses and jewelry, and piecing together quilts, pouring her heart into every project.
Above all, Kathy's heart belonged to her family. She loved her children and grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them.
She is survived by her children, Joshua (Glenn Bliznick) Johnson, Amy Shockley, Candi (Wesley Moody) Weaver, Mike (Essence) Weaver, and Matthew (Tesia) Weaver; grandchildren, Tyler, Marshall, Jordan, Jakab, Abbey, Delaney, Madison, Finnley, Morgan, McKenzie, Macy, and Eli; mother, Barbara J. Foster; brothers, Gene (Jill) Johnson and David (Larry Young) Johnson; mother-in-law, Helen Weaver; sister-in-law, Marlene Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends Linda Didier, Tracy Gagliano, and Mike Cronin.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ronald Weaver, father, Robert Johnson; father-in-law, Ronald Keith Weaver; son-in-law, Nathan J. Shockley; brothers, Randy and Dennis Johnson; and special friend, Charles Didier.
A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., followed by a celebration of her life at 6:30 p.m. at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 4301 N. Main St., Rockford. Funeral Celebrant Jennifer Thompson will officiate.
