Joseph J Backor was born to Joseph and Mary Backor on January 25th 1925 in Montreal, Canada and passed away at the Atrium on December 15 2014 at the age of 89. Married Jeanne G Backor (Nee Kanney) in Chicago on July 19, 1947. Graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Mechanical engineering, receiving his commission from the U.S. Navy from Colombia University. Joe worked in management in the manufacturing field, volunteered at North Suburban Library for many years and was a member of Rock Valley College CLR and the Golden Eagles Fitness Program. Joe loved spending time with his family and going to all of the grandchildren's activities. He was an avid reader and gardener and had many hobbies and interests. His family loved him and will miss him dearly. Survived by his wife of 67 years, Jeanne Backor. Children: daughters Kathleen Figler Woodinville, WA, Mary (Bruce) Pierce Rockford, IL, Barbara (Charles C) Madison Loves Park, IL. Grandchildren: Laura (Steve) Clegg, Libertyville, IL, Brian (Amanda) Figler, Maltby WA, Erik Figler, Kirkland, WA, Stephanie Pierce Pecatonica, IL, Kelly Madison Woodstock, IL, Carly Madison Beloit, WI and Chloe Madison Loves Park, IL. 4 Great-grandchildren: Brady and Haley Clegg, Madaline and Sage Figler. Predeceased by parents, brother Bill Backor, and sisters-in law Catherine Backor and Helen Kanney. Special thanks to the staff at the Atrium, Heartland Hospice, Dr. Rone and Karen.
