John Frederick Miller, 76, of Machesney Park went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 5, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. John was born on May 19, 1935 in Rockford, son of Richard and Hazel Miller. Attended Rockford Public Schools; Graduate of West High, 1954, Illinois Wesleyan University, 1960 and Northern Illinois University, 1968, where he received his Masters in Secondary Professional Education. He worked as a science instructor at Marsh School from 1960-1964 and in the Rockford Public Schools as the coordinator of basic adult education from 1964-1975, when he retired. United in Marriage on August 20, 1976 to his beloved wife Jean Anderson. Developed family owned businesses; including Miller Auction Service and Heritage Estate Sales. John's family was his whole life. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Survived by his wife, Jean; children, Jill (Tom) Johnson, Jon Michael "Mike" (Gloria) Miller; grandson, John C. Carlson; twin granddaughters, Abigail and Elisabeth Johnson; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Henry J. Miller, Michael Miller. A Celebration of John's life will held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Life Church, 5910 Elevator Road, Roscoe. Pastor Kevin Kringle will officiate. Visitation from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Grace Funeral & Cremation Service, 1340 South Alpine Rd. Rockford, at Colonial Village.
