Jerome "Sunny" Bondurant, 80, of Rockford passed away on January 25, 2022 at home peacefully in his sleep. Jerome was born on July 25, 1941 in Mobile, AL; the son of Judson William Bondurant Sr., and Minnie Bell Bondurant. He married Shirley Clark, August 26, 1959, and from this blessed union five children; Vanessa (Lee Roy) Bennett, Jerome Bondurant, Jr., Anthony Bondurant, Ryan McNiff, Shaun (Elicia) Bondurant and adopted son, Andrew Bondurant. Jerome was employed by Rockford Housing Authority in the Maintenance Department where he developed a great friendship with his boss, Dave Conover. Jerome was a jovial, affable man, whether he was sharing knowledge or advice, he did it all with a joke and a smile. He was outwardly focused and the first person to help someone in need. He donated to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and the Shriner's Hospital. Jerome accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior. Survived by his children, and Ms. Shirley Bondurant; numerous grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, sisters; Grace Harris, Judson (Mary) Bondurant Jr., Earlene Horton; special sister, Rose Ann Caver; brothers, Leo Bondurant, James Whitlock, John Whitlock; special niece, Toni Bondurant, and a special heart-felt thanks to a devoted loving companion and care-giver Cheryl Lenoir; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ethelene Wells, Irma Jean Simmons, Alita Bondurant, Tonya Daughrity, and Jimmy Roy Andrews. Goddaughter, Laprisha Lenoir, godson Alex Dwayne Johnson, Sr., and special nephew Reginald "Reggie" Avery Brooks, Sr. Jerome chose to donate his remains to science to further medical research.
