Jean Charlotte Lundgren 1923-2017
Jean C. Lundgren, 93, loving and devoted wife, proud and generous mother passed away on May 25, 2017 surrounded by her family. Born May 26, 1923 in Chicago to David and Olga (Johnson) Benson. Jean married Ray in October 16, 1948 in Chicago, where they lived for 12 years. Jean was a homemaker. In 1960, the family moved to St. Charles, Illinois where Jean eventually worked in the St. Charles School District in the payroll department until she retired. Jean was an expert seamstress, and loved to make clothes for her family. She also loved to garden. In 2012, Jean and Ray moved to Rockford, Illinois to be near their daughter Nancy. Jean is survived by her husband of 68 years, Raymond Lundgren, daughters; Nancy Leonard (Michael) of Rockford, Illinois, and Karen Lundgren-Secard (Lee) of Los Angeles, California. Jean has one granddaughter, Elizabeth Leonard O'Connor (Jack) in Rockford, Illinois, and one great grandson, Grant. Also, survived by her sister Marilynn Sharp, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, her sister Dorothy Bate, brother-in-laws Herb Bate and Mel Sharp. The family would to thank the OSF Hospice staff for their loving care.In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mark Lutheran Church, Rockford, Illinois. Graveside Service on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Chapel Hill Gardens South Cemetery, 11333 South Central Ave. Oak Lawn. Rev. Dr. Chuck Olson of St. Mark Lutheran Church will officiate.
