Jean M. (Peters-Hazlewood) Carter
Jean M. Carter, 91 of Rockford died on January 4, 2012 at 12:20 p.m. at Northwoods Care Center in Belvidere surrounded by her family. She was born on May 22, 1920 in Capron, IL daughter of Louis and Ida Peters. Jean was an active volunteer for many area organizations including the Red Cross, where she served as a Grey Lady, Goldie Floberg, St. Anne's, and Meals on Wheels. She participated in Bible Study and prayer chain. She is survived by her son, Donald (Margo) Hazlewood of Belvidere; grandsons, Dale Hazlewood, Dean (Jennifer) Hazlewood; great grandchildren, Mallory, Sydney, Dakotah Hazlewood, Kyle, Drew Norton, Zachary Farel; sisters, Ruth Nelson, Bette Waters; brother, Allen (Priscilla) Peters; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends and neighbors. Predeceased by husband, Joseph; parents; siblings, Maynard, Melvin and Thelma. A Memorial Service will be Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church 1045 Belvidere Rd., Belvidere, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Pastor Allan Buss will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Association. Cremation rites will be accorded.
