James M. "Mike" Gryder, 77, of Belvidere died on May 19, 2016 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 26, 1939 in Rockford, son of Frank and Anna (Ivy) Gryder. Graduate of East High School, class of 1957. James served in the United States Army and was a true patriot. United in marriage to Sandra Zitzke on August 15, 1959 in Rockford. Member of the Lithuanian Club. Formerly employed at Aircraft Systems. Mike was a devoted family man, he enjoyed camping trips with his family and traveling to visit them. He loved gardening. Survived by his wife, Sandra; children, Lisa (Steve) Edwards of Pensacola, FL, James F. (Ruth) Gryder of Rockford, Amy Jo (Alan) Anderson of Raymore, MO; grandchildren, Benjamin (Sarina) Edwards, Matthew Edwards, Noah Gryder; step-grandchildren, Abby (Chris) Martin, Ryan (Alicia) Carlton, Sadie (Cody Fowler) Carlton, Alexander "AJ" Anderson, Adriana "Annie" Anderson; siblings, Marvin (Betty) Gryder of Lakeland, FL, Bonnie Minick of Rockford, Carole (Tom) Szenay of Palm Harbor, FL; sister-in-law, Pat Gryder of Rockford; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and a huge circle of special friends. Preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Eva Page, Ona Mae Webb-Anglun, Cassie Feichter-Szczech and Melvin Gryder. Per his wishes, no services will be held.
