James Edward Longardner, 80, of Rockford died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on February 28, 2014. He was born on September 10, 1933 in Ft. Wayne, IN, son of Andrew and Lucile (Rogers) Longardner. James was a piano technician for over 30 years, and the former owner of Rockford Organ and Piano, with stores in Rockford and Wisconsin. Past member of the Walleye Club, Navy Club and the Piano Technicians Guild. United in Marriage to Linda on May 29, 1987 in Rockford. Survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Susan (Jeff) Cellitti, Patricia (Greg) Matranga, Marcia (Bob) Linley, Kelli (Randy) Blank; sons, James A. and Robert A. Longardner, John P. and Mark A. Farbo. James was affectionately known as Grandpa Jim to numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Richard Longardner, sister, Joan Demo; brother-in-law, Don Doehring, numerous nieces, nephews, fishing friends and extended family. Preceded in death by parents, sister, Betty, and grandsons in infancy. Jim arranged for his body to be donated to science to further medical understanding and research.
