Obituary

James R. Holmin (Jim) passed away peacefully on October 15, 2011 in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born July 25, 1927 in Rockford, son of Joseph R. and Marie (Jacobson) Holmin. Graduate of East High in 1945, where he was a member of the golf team. Served in the United States Army in Japan for one year. Attended University of Wisconsin, Madison where he met Patricia Ann LaDuke. They were married June 23, 1952 and had three girls. Jim worked for Sundstrand Pump Division, (Suntec) for many years, retiring in 1991. Jim married Ann Anderson in 1992 and was blessed with an additional daughter. Jim was an avid fan of the Wisconsin Badgers and the "Lovable Losers" Chicago Cubs. In his retirement he enjoyed traveling and working as a ranger at Sinnissippi Golf Course. Jim was a dedicated Christian, member of First Assembly, ushering for many years. Survivors include his wife, Ann; children, Sharon (Tom Archuleta) Holmin, of Los Angeles, CA, Cynthia Ann (John) Dixon of Owensboro, KY, Laura (Michael) Liesch of Lino Lakes, MN, Kimberly (James) DeMaria of Rockford; grandchildren, Jonathan (Jenn) Dixon, Rachael Anne (Matthew) Rainwater, Aaron (Callie), Sarah, Moriah Dixon; Ariel, Sydney, Brooklyn, Liesch; Phillip, Nicholas DeMaria; granddog Reina; 5 great grandchildren; beloved cat, Fluffy and Dog Edgrrr. Preceded in death by his first wife, Patty; parents, brother Robert "Bob" Holmin.Service at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, preceded by visitation from 10:30 a.m. to service time in the auditorium of First Assembly, 5950 Spring Creek Road, Rockford. Pastor Bob Taylor will officiate. Private family interment in Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Assembly or the Alzheime's Association. Jim's family expresses their deepest thanks to Dr. John Dorsey, and the dedicated staff of Alma Nelson Nursing Home, and to VNA Hospice and Rockford Memorial Hospital for the excellent care he received.
