James Frederick Box, Sr., "Fat Man", 69, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025 in Amberwood Care Center. He was born on April 21, 1956 in Rockford, IL to Eurl Sims and Ruby Lee Box. James served in the United States Marines from 1973 until 1975. He married Loden Box on April 5, 1974. They were married for 15 years.
On May 5, 2003, James married Robyn Ford Box. They were married for 17 years.
James Worked over 30 years as a truck driver, retiring from J.B. Hunt. He was a member of the Independent Bikers and loved to ride his motorcycle with his buddies. He liked to travel and "hit the boat" spending time at the casinos. James told it how it is, loved spending time with his family. He was full of laughter, often joking around and cooking for family and friends. In his spare time, James enjoyed watching food network and ice-road truckers.
He was not a member of a church, but recently, James accepted Christ into his heart.
He is survived by his children; James L. Box, Jr., Sheree Monique Box, Sharlise L. Box, and James F. (Maeisha) Box, Jr.; 11 Grandchildren, James, Malik, Nyair, Tristin, Darmarcus, Damarion, Kayden, La'Damian, Christan, James III and Ja'meer; 1 great-grandchild, Kamaria Gipson; sisters, Ruby Gathright, Eva (Gordy) Lucas and Cassandra (Michael) Brown; step-sister, Helen Williams; best friend, Louis Washington, Sr.; and special friend, Cheryl Groce; God daughter, Cheryl R. Cooper; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Pearl (Calvin) Ashley; brothers, Larry Rigsby and Freeman Maclin; step-sister, Gloria Lambert; step-brother, George Maclin.
