Jacqueline Kay McLeod, 62, of Rockford went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 2, 2024. Born October 20, 1961 in Rockford; daughter of Max and Ina (Byrd) Bowser. Graduate of Harlem High School, class of 1981. Jacqueline obtained her Bachelor and Master Degrees in Education from Grand Canyon State University. United in marriage to Joey McLeod on September 16, 2001 in Rockford. She was employed as a Special Education teacher at Parker Center and Cathedral Baptist Church, where she was an active member of the church. In her free time, she loved watching Western and Hallmark movies. Jacqueline was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She had a gentle spirit and was welcoming and giving to everyone she encountered. She was a second mom to many of her daughter's friends; she created a welcoming place where people felt seen, welcomed and were graciously fed. She loved her cats, Mittens, Bean, Checkers, Gizmo and Pumpkin. Survived by her daughters; Hayley (Rob) VerHagen, Hannah McLeod, Hunter McLeod, Hillary Mershon; granddaughter, Maeve VerHagen; siblings, Pamela Fisher, Robert Bowser, Karen Robertson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Gladys Noblitt. Memorial visitation on Saturday, January 6, 2023 from 1 pm to 1:45 pm at Cathedral Baptist Church, 5622 35th St. Rockford, followed by a Celebration of Jacqueline's life at 2 pm.
