Herbert "Hub" A. Carlson, 95 of Machesney Park, died on June 25, 2014 at 7:55 p.m. Born to Ernest and Bertha (Wallin) Carlson. Hub lived in Rockford and the surrounding area his whole life. He lived a very full life. He served in the 112th Calvary through WWII, worked at Amrock, Fridh and Sons Millwork Supply and Alpine Motel. He was the most self-less, compassionate man, always with a smile on his face and a joke or story to tell. He loved to take pictures making sure to capture every moment that he could. His favorite past times were spending time surrounded by family and friends and watching Western movies. He will be greatly missed. Survived by his children, Kathy (Michael) Hynes of Machesney Park, Nancy (Albert) Ulven of Statesville, NC; and daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Daniels, of Beloit, WI, David Daniels of Reedsburg, WI, Michael Russo of Rockford; 14 grandchildren,18 great-grandchildren; and nephews, Mark (Jaci) Fridh, Gordon (Chris) Carlson; niece, Pam (Mike) Renstrom, and their families; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Gordon, Don, Elaine and Marilyn; sons, Terry and Tom Daniels, and great-granddaughter Lori Daniels. Hub's family is thankful to granddaughter, Mindi and grandson, Justin and son-in-law, Mike, and great-granddaughter Taylor for all their support and love. They were blessed by Cory's and Nancy's gardening skills; Leanne's mowing and Michael's yard work; Tom and Mary Jane's gift of Florida, Pat Hays and her haircuts, Marquel and her bathing, and nephew Gordon's memorial book. Memorial Visitation will be Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 11 am to 1 pm at Heartland Community Church, 1280 South Alpine Rd. Rockford, with interment to follow at Scandinavian Cemetery.
