Harriett C. Nordberg, 88 of Rockford went home to the Lord on March 22, 2013 in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born January 27, 1925 in Rockford; daughter of Byron and Lucile (Lundberg) Garthwaite. Graduated from Rockford East High School in 1943. Was a homemaker for several years and later employed by St. Anthony Medical Center. Harriett was baptized in 1945 at the old State Street Baptist Church (Now Creekwood Baptist). Active in choir, bells and visiting shut-ins. Harriett loved to travel, especially to Hawaii many times. Survived by her husband of 67 years, Richard Nordberg; children; Trudy (Larry) Higgs, Linda Johnston, Terry (Kathy) Nordberg; grandchildren, Shawn Johnston, Shannon Higgs; great-granddaughter, Gianna Johnston; brothers, Robert and Gene Garthwaite; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents. A Celebration of Harriett's Life will be on March 29, 2013 at 11 a.m. at 7281 Olde Creek Rd. Rockford, IL 61114. Rev. Darren Darren Loeppky will officiate. Memorial Visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Cremation rites will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to do a random act of kindness.
