Guenter Willi Heinrich Windhorst, 66, of Rockford died on May 17, 2022. Son of Born March 27, 1956 in Bassum, Germany. United in marriage to Antje Volkers on November 11, 1983 in Syke, Germany. Guenter was an Engineer at Chicago Dryer and was previously employed at Transferon in Germany, Jensen in Denmark, and DeHooge in Belgium as an Engineer. Like many men of his era, and in the region he was born; Guenter was a typical stoic Northern German man. He wasn't always demonstrative in showing his love with hugs and an abundance of affection when his daughters were young. Guenter enjoyed spoiling his daughters with both practical and fun gifts over the years. He was a generous man, who worked very hard and took care of everyone around him, sometimes ever before he attended to his own needs. Antje and Guenter were a loving a devoted couple, and a good team in all areas of life. When his grandchildren arrived, he demonstrated his love and affection for them by sneaking them candy, giving the best back scratches, cuddles and hugs. He was very proud of his grandchildren and loved them dearly. Survived by his wife, Antje; daughters, Jana (Jamie Trevino) Windhorst, Katharina (Terrance) Grant; grandchildren, Logan, Harper; Siblings, Walter (Regina) Windhorst, Erhard (Hannlore) Meyer; mother-in-law, Margaretha Volkers; brothers-in-law, HansUwe (Armaveni) Volkers, Peter (Cornelia) Volkers; nephew Martin Volkers, niece; Hripsime Volkers; and extended family in Germany. Preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law Helmut Volkers; and German Shepherd, Quint. Memorial visitation on May 27, 2022 from 2:00-2:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 4301 N. Main St. Rockford. Mark Anderson will officiate.
