George Washington Bicknell, 84, of Roscoe, IL passed away Sunday, September 4, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on February 22, 1927, son of Lester and Frances Bicknell in Natick, MA; and grew up in Shapleigh, ME. He resided in East Hartford and Ellington, CT. Served two terms in the United States Navy in WWII. United in Marriage to Kathy Roberts on December 4, 2004 in Ellington, CT. Retired employee of Pratt Whitney Aircraft, and Bicknell Lawn Maintenance. Everyone who knew George knew that he loved to work with his hands, especially woodworking. Survived by his loving wife, Kathy; children, Diane (John) Cooper of Palouse, WA, Paula (Victor) Froio of Ellington, CT, Alan Bicknell of East Hartford, CT, James Bicknell of Stafford Springs, CT, Gary Bicknell of Corinth, VT; step-son, Christopher (Jennifer) Maynard of Roscoe, IL; 6 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; sister, Frances Berry of Lancaster, MA.
