Gary Ellis Dole, 67, of Machesney Park died on October 23, 2014 at 10:45 p.m. in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Gary was born on February 4, 1947 in Rockford, son of Judge and Marion (Pixler) Dole. Gary served in the United States Navy in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Navy Band. Gary was an accomplished musician headlining concerts in Northern Illinois and numerous southern states. He was known by a variety of nick names, including "Kentucky", "Tennessee" and "Texas." He was a beloved father, grandfather, godfather, uncle and brother. Survived by his daughters, Veronica Dole of North Chicago, Valerie (Kris) Crawford of Park City; granddaughter, Destiny Cheyanne Perez of North Chicago; friend and caregiver, Leona Faulkner of Machesney Park; brother, Billy (Patty) Dole of Rockford; brother-in-law, Charles Cruz of Kenosha, WI; God Daughter, Regina (John Stark) Tellez of Wadsworth; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Terry Dole, Larry Dole, Shirley Dole, Mary Frazier and Gene Frazier. Private services will be held at a later date.
