Obituary

Frederick Charles Pultz
Sept 3, 1944 - Jan 16, 2023

Frederick Charles Pultz, (Fred) 78, of Kirkland, IL (formerly of Ocoee, FL and Streamwood, IL) died on January 16th, 2023 at Anam Glen Memory Care Facility in Rockford, IL. Frederick was born September 3rd, 1944 in Oak Park, Illinois; son of Ernst and Doris Pultz (nee Frederiksen).
Fred grew up in Palatine, IL. He was a graduate of Knox College in Galesburg, IL.

United in marriage to Judith Eleanor Hasbrouck on February 17, 1983, in Las Vegas, NV and they celebrated 35 years of marriage before her death, Mar 3, 2018

After graduating college Fred went to work for the Comptroller of the Currency within the United States Department of the Treasury as a National Bank Examiner, a job he held for 31 years until his retirement.

Fred had a love of music and enjoyed concerts and live music festivals. He could be found "Fins Up" at a Jimmy Buffet concert or home enjoying his extensive music collection including everything from the Beach Boys and Beatles, to classical or country or Jazz.

Fred loved to travel and his job required him to do so at times, sometimes even to other countries. Between business trips and personal vacations, he traveled to 4 of the 7 continents, in addition to many of the island nations, and, in all, he visited about 2 dozen different countries.

Fred and Judy were regular travelers, especially to their favorite location in Cancún, Mexico where they eventually purchased 2 weeks timeshare and had several close friends they kept through the years.

Their love of paradise carried over when they moved from the Chicago area down to Florida, where they built their dream house with a tropical pool and lush tropical gardens to idle away their later years after retirement.

After retirement, Fred and Judy sold their timeshare to become regular cruisers and could be found enjoying several cruises any given year.

Fred also used his spare time during retirement to acquire an impressive movie collection that he watched regularly on his large screen tv. His favorite movie was Avatar. He also loved binge watching his favorite shows like Blue Bloods and NCIS or any of the Star Trek series. Fred was a college basketball and lifelong Green Bay Packers fan.

Fred had a huge heart for animals and through the years had many pets, including cats, dogs and parrots which he spoiled each and every one as if they were his own children.

Fred was a wonderful father to his 2 stepchildren, Neil and Robyn, and grandfather to Robyn's children and grandchildren. Through the years he enjoyed treating them to many visits to Magic Kingdom and SeaWorld. Fred loved roller coasters and those family visits were always a great excuse to enjoy the amusement parks.

Fred was a very quiet and reserved man but had a fun, silly side that would come out when around family and friends. He also had a very caring and nurturing side and was a wonderful caregiver to Judy when she became more immobile and was in a wheelchair.

When Fred was diagnosed with Alzeimers and it became too difficult for Fred and Judy to live independently, they relocated to his granddaughter, Stephanie's farm in Kirkland, IL where 3 generations of Robyn's family lived to allow others to care for them full time.

After Judy's passing, Fred spent several years living on the farm and enjoyed his daily care from Robyn and Stephanie. Even though his dementia clouded his days, he enjoyed his photos and would have memories of things that were cherished in those moments. Fred enjoyed his daily walks and sometimes could be seen taking a jog around the property. He truly loved the farm animals and pets, and enjoyed giving them attention. He also would just sit watching cartoons or being silly with the great grandchildren.

Another of Fred's passions was great food. He enjoyed his regular outings with Robyn and Joaquin for some of his favorite foods, like tacos or a good steak dinner. He especially loved the almost monthly trips to Red Robin for birthday celebrations where he enjoyed his favorite, a bacon cheeseburger and fries followed by an ice cream sundae.

Fred is survived by his children, Neil (Supranee) Willmann of Si Racha, Thailand, Robyn (Joaquin Rojas) Burno of Kirkland, IL; grandchildren, Stephanie Ackley, Joseph Bayne, Chase Bayne, Noah Burno, Adalia Willmann; great-grandchildren, Neelah, Teyla, Ronan, Selah, Sebastian, Titus and Ava; brothers, Thomas (Jo), and David; Nephews, Aaron and Scott and niece, Alicia. Preceded in death by his parents, Ernst and Doris, his wife, Judy, and his niece, Carissa.
