Frances J. Isom, 84, of Rockford died on April 24, 2014 at 7:00 a.m. in her daughter's home. She was born May 22, 1929 in Champaign, daughter of Wilbert and Hattie (Hite) Anderson. Graduate of Urbana High School. Frances was a die-hard Illini Basketball fan. She was an excellent cook, and famous for her fudge. Retired from the City of Champaign, where she was employed as a Matron-Clerk in the police department. Survived by her daughters, Toba (George) Mitchell of Rockford, Monica Wood of Atlanta, Anyeta Isom of Champaign; grandchildren, Christopher (Patrice) Stark, Francine Stark, Timothy (Meredith) Brown, Kristen Brown, Kiwan Mitchell, Ashley (Simanga) Cele, Micah Wood, Valerie Wood, Serena Clark, Stefan Hutchison; nine great-grandchildren and special niece Marilyn Grandberry. Preceded in death by her parents, 12 siblings and sons Craig Stark and Val Stark. Private family interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Champaign. Grace Funeral & Cremation Services in Rockford assisted the family with arrangements.
