Loving Husband, Father, Grandpa With a Servant's Heart For Everyone
Erwin Hans Lange, 71, of Rockford went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 2:25 a.m. in his home, surrounded by his family. Erwin was born on November 8, 1939 in Rumstau, Germany; son of Johann and Elsa (Gadel) Lange. Attended West High School. United in Marriage to J. Diana West on May 10, 1969 in Rockford. Served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Erwin had a servant's heart, and was known for his love of kids. He was formerly employed as a Unit Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Rockford, and worked with his wife, Diana at Teen Ranch in Marlette, MI, a home for troubled youth, where they were employed as house parents. Former member of the Loves Park Rotary Club, and Berean Baptist Church, where he served in the youth group ministry. Member of Northeast Christian Church. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Diana; children, Traci (Rob) Davis of Rockford, Todd (Emily) Lange of Andover, MN; grandchildren, Ryan and Sarah Davis, Ashley, Isaac and Elliana Lange; brother, Johann (Lori) Lange, Kurt (Barb) Lange both of Rockford; sisters, Edith (Jerry) Stone of Rockton, Irma Larson of Rockford; father and mother in law, Floyd and Reba West of Rockford. Preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. A funeral service will be on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Northeast Christian Church, 5651 East Riverside, Rockford. Visitation on Thursday, November 3, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
