Elizabeth Marie Shostrom, 98, of Rockford was Promoted to Glory on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 3:15 pm in Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Elizabeth was born on December 17, 1911 in Rockford, daughter of Victor and Marie (Lund) Engstrom. United in Marriage on June 24, 1939 to F. Adolph Shostrom. Elizabeth was a member at The Salvation Army Temple, First Evangelical Free Church, and a 20 year resident of Fairhaven. She was an accomplished poet, writing for family and friends. She is survived by her children, Faith (Dr. Robert) Slack of Cherry Valley, F. Larry Shostrom of North Liberty, IA; grandchildren, Lisa (David) O'Connor of Ohio, Amy (Eric) Doerr of Michigan, Todd (Adrienne) Slack of Louisiana, Allison (Zack) Simoni of Illinois, Derrick Shostrom of Iowa; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Dagmar Nelson of Cherry Valley. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, Gust Engstrom, Linnea Peterson and daughter Hope Shostrom.
A Service of Worship and Celebration will be held on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the Salvation Army Temple, 500 S. Rockford Ave. Rockford; with visitation beginning at noon until the time of the service. Interment in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Elizabeth's name to the Fairhaven Chapel Fund or the Salvation Army. Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 1340 South Alpine Rd. Rockford is assisting the family.
