Edward Elder, 83, of Rockford died on April 25, 2017 in his home, surrounded by his family. Born April 16, 1934 in Doniphan, Missouri; son of Charlie and Mary Elder. United in marriage to Ruth Elder on May 29, 1956. Edward was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, garage saling, collecting and repairing clocks. Survived by children, Norma Jean Pearson, John (Andrea) Elder, Michael Elder, Scott Elder, Daughter-in-Law Joan Elder all of Rockford; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Delpha of Rockford, Betty Fay of Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth Elder; son, Ernest Elder; and son-in-law, James Torrance. Celebration of Life on April 30, 2017 at 2 p.m. Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 1340 South Alpine Rd. Rockford – at Colonial Village. Memorial Visitation at 1 p.m. until the time of service.
