Earnest "Gene" Doke, 76, of Avinger, TX; formerly of Davis Junction, died April 15, 2023. Born April 17, 1946 in Clarksville, AR; son of Earnest and Eva (Ingram) Doke. Graduate of Auburn High School, class of 1965. He served in the United States Army. United in marriage to Ethel Byerley on February 14, 1994. Gene retired from Chrysler and was a member of UAW Local 1268 in Belvidere. Gene was very handy and enjoyed fixing things and building. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, and could often be found fishing. He had an extensive collection of fishing equipment and like collecting coins. Survived by children; John (Estela) Doke, Carrie (Neal) Hogan, Kim (Ryan) Atherton, April Kubiszewski, Chris (Ladonna) Tudor; 12 grandchildren; brother, Henry Herschel (Terri) Doke; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sisters; Linda Hunter and Geri Peck. Memorial visitation on Friday, July 14, 2023 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 4301 N.
