Duane R. Carlson, 62, of Rockford died on September 12, 2016 in his home. Born on December 27, 1953 in Rockford, son of Robert and Rose (Radcliff) Carlson. Served in the United States Marines. Duane was formerly employed at the City of Rockford in the Street Department. Duane loved the neighbors in his community, and was a skilled carpenter. He built the pool house in his backyard and loved tending to his garden. He loved his dog, Bear. Survived by his daughter, Nichole (Jason) Pittaway; grandchildren, Adalaide, Oliver and Parker Pittaway all of Loves Park; mother, Rose Benhoff of Rockford; sisters, Sandy (Ray) Duchow of Holcombe, WI, Cheryl (Bruce) Swacina of Roscoe; half-brother, Eric (Becky) Carlson of Geneva; longtime companion, Tommie of Rockford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
