Dixie L. Mende, 78, of Kirkland died on December 25, 2019. Born on December 30, 1940 in Kingston, IA; daughter of Martin C. and Rebecca G. (Hulett) Andries. Graduated from St. Joseph's College of Nursing in Aurora. United in Marriage to Robert Lee Mende on November 6, 1962 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Aurora. Dixie's faith was important to her. She was baptized at the age of 12 and performed in the Gospel group, Vesper's Voice. Dixie was a talented seamstress. Survived by her husband Robert; children, Robert S. (Tina) Mende, Dr. Susan (Dr. Mark Hubley) Mende-Hubley, Wm. Edward Mende, Jeffrey W. (Nicole) Mende; grandchildren, Nicholas Hubley, Lexi Mende; step-granddaughter, Sharayah Mende; siblings, Maxine Graham, Ed Andries, David Andries; Aunts, Delilah Scull, Rachael Farr; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Juanita, Margaret and Midge. Memorial Service on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at North Aurora SDA, 950 Mooseheart Road, Aurora.
