Denvis Schell, 83, of Rockford, IL, ascended to eternal glory on Thursday, April 24, 2025. He was born on April 15, 1942 in Harlan County, Kentucky to Solomon and Celia (Kelley) Schell.
Denvis attended Harlan High School and later moved to Rockford, IL where he met Bonny, the love of his life. They were married on January 21, 1967 for 58 years.
Denvis was employed at Atwood/Dura and retired after 38 years of service.
Denvis loved Jesus with all of his heart and was a part of the beginning of Turning Point Church where he served faithfully in leadership and as an elder up to the final days.
He loved to garden and to be out in nature. His church family will miss him...but rejoice in his arrival to his eternal home.
Denvis is survived by his wife, Bonny; his brother, George "David" (Sharon) in Rockford, IL and his sister, Betty Alexander of Candler, NC. He is predeceased by his parents; Bonny's parents, Ed and Marcella Sadewater; 2 brothers, Paul and Leroy; 1 sister, Freda Schell; and a sister-in-law, Nancy (Jerry) Konitski.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 in Grace Funeral Home, 4301 N. Main Street, Rockford, IL 61103 with Pastor Steve Lapp officiating. There will be a visitation from 10:00-11:00 am on Tuesday, an hour prior to service, at the funeral home. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Rockford, IL.
