Debra Marie Bauer, 68, of Rockford went home to be with Jesus on May 4, 2021. Born September 19, 1952 in Rockford, daughter of Robert and Vesta (Rockwell) Schafman. Graduate of Auburn High School class of 1970. United in marriage to William Bauer on August 15, 2009. Deb had a long career in operations and administration. After many years with Rockford Memorial Hospital and Byron Bank, she retired as an executive administrator from Milestone, Inc. Deb was a seamstress and knitter and loved crafts and interior design. Her favorite place was in her home, in front of her vintage Singer Sewing machine with the breeze from her open window with the view of the Rock River. She was a member of United Lutheran Church and enjoyed her knitting community at Knit One Purl Two.
Survived by husband Bill; children, Brandie (Steven) Johnson, Matthew (Stephanie) Lesher, Dawn (Chuck) Johnson, Kimberly Bauer; 9 grandchildren; step-mother, Sue Schafman; siblings, Merle (Laura) Schafman, Rob (Vicky) Schafman, Tammi (Joe) Draheim, Cris Snyder, Lori (Todd) Johnson; grandchildren, Jarrett, Ashton, Joseph and Colton. Preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lisa Wescott and brother, Bruce Schafman.
Memorial visitation Monday, May 10, 2021 at 9 am at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 4301 N. Main St. Rockford, followed by a celebration of life at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Julane Nease will officiate In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Lung Association in Deb's name. Private family interment in Lloyd Cemetery in Richland Center, WI.
