David W. Westphal, 58, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. David loved nature. He was a gifted artist, loved gardening and sitting by the campfire listening to the sounds of summer. Graduate of Winnebago High School, class of 1973. Farmed with his father and worked Civil Construction and City of Rockford street department. David is survived by his wife, Grace (Finney); parents, William and Elsie (Carlson) Westphal; step-sons, Corey McKeown, Joe and Jason Morgan; step-daughter, Candie (Brad) Hatfield; special "daughter" Sasha Lopiccolo; grandchildren, Jared, Robbie, Bradley, and Lilyana; sister, Diane (Wes) Newman; and their children, Kyle and Melissa; sister-in-laws, Loretta (Bill) Webster, Theresa (Ron) Bales; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his son, Karac in 2012, mother-in-law, Mary Finney, sister-in-law, Sally. A celebration of David's life will be Saturday, October 5, 2013 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the North Suburban Women's Club, 6320 N 2nd St. Loves Park.
