David H. Ward Jr., 92, of Rockford died September 3, 2017 in his home. Born September 18, 1924 in Minneapolis, MN. He served in the United States Army in the Korean War. David was employed as a Machinist by Boeing, retiring September 1, 1993. United in marriage to Kathleen Bonina in Puyallup, WA on May 11, 1991. He graduated from New Testament Christian Seminary in June of 2006. He helped out at New Testament Christian Church in Rockford from January 2007 until April of 2016. He loved attending church, Bible Study and simply being in the presence of the family of God. Dave loved wood working in his shop and remodeling his house. There was never a project that he hesitated to take on and he always completed it beautifully. At 91, he built a covered back porch and at 92, he rebuilt the fence and gate to the back yard trash/yard waste area and added a roof to keep all the cans nice and dry. His handiwork around the house will be sorely missed by his wife! Survived by wife, Kathleen Ward; sons, David Ward, Timothy Ward; step-sons, David Riedel and Michael Bonina; and numerous grandchildren. David's family is grateful to Heartland Hospice for their loving care. Memorial service on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Pelley Road Christian Fellowship, 3800 Pelley Rd. Rockford. Grace Funeral & Cremation Services assisted the family.
