David W. Oliver, 57, of Rockford died on January 21, 2013 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 22, 1955 in Decatur, son of Edward and Shelby Oliver. Served in the United States Navy and the US Airborne. United in Marriage to Kyong Song on November 23, 1991. Formerly employed as an insurance agent at Michael Nelson and Associates, as well as several other area insurance firms. Survived by his wife, Kyong; children, Lee (Larry) Larys, Amanda Gamble, both of Rockford; grandchildren, Larry Larys Jr., Blake Larys, Teizhon Gamble-Reddic, Anthony Larys, and Zephan Swain; siblings, LeRoy Oliver, Eddie Oliver, Gary Oliver, all of Rockford, Jan McArthur of Irving, Lori (Steve) Cook, Jeff Oliver, Eric Oliver, Carol (James) Hooper, all of Rockford; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Jessica Gamble; grandson, Dominic Larys, and brother, Mike Oliver. A funeral service will be on January 25, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 1340 South Alpine Rd Rockford. Chaplain Maureen McLain of Heartland Hospice will officiate. Interment in Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to David's family.
