Obituary

David "Knobby" L. Knoblock, 83 of Rockford; formerly of Lisle; went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 13, 2024. Born August 7, 1940 in Chicago; son of Frank and Louise (Moses) Knoblock Sr. . Attended Lisle Community High School. Served in the United States Air Force as a Missile Tech in Bitburg, Germany from January 1960 to December 1964, where he met the love of his life, Britt-Marie Eima Graslie; they were united in marriage on December 5, 1964 at First Baptist Church of Downers Grove. In his early married years, he was a volunteer EMT for the Lisle Fire Protection District for 15 years. David was an Electrician and a member of IBEW Local 134. He was employed at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he accepted greater levels of responsibility; retiring as a Telecommunications Engineer. Upon his retirement he moved with his wife to Rockford, where they found their church home at First Evangelical Free Church, where he was an active member. Additionally, he was a volunteer for Gideons International, where he served as the Camp Treasurer. He was a member of the American Legion Robert C.A. Carlson Post 1207 in Rockford. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, and was a volunteer coordinator for By Design Visuals, a place where he wore many hats. He was a talented golfer, who enjoyed keeping the scores and statistics for the league in his Excel spreadsheet. David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved Jesus and was a true example of His love here on earth; he had a big heart, warm demeanor, and true affection for others. He was the first one to say yes when a need or crisis came up. David was a meticulous and skilled woodworker and craftsperson, he enjoyed tinkering and fixing things around the house, and assisting his children and grandchildren with their projects. Survived by children; Beth-Ann (Keith) Kinton, Jennifer Knoblock, Cindy Knoblock; grandchildren, Ashley Knoblock, Taylor (Matthew Hardin) Rachwal, Emilie Jurcak; sister, Cathryn Vincent; nieces, Vicki (Luciano) Guerra, Susan (Kelly) Keech; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother and sister-in-law Frank and Mary Knoblock Jr.; nephew, Christopher Knoblock; brother-in-law, Warren Vincent. Visitation Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 9:30 -10:45 a.m. at First Free Church, 2223 N. Mulford, Rockford; followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Chuck Rife will officiate.
