David "Butch" Alan Stockton, 71 of Rockford died December 6, 2021. Born February 26, 1950 in Topeka, KS; son of Walter and Joyce (Clopp) Stockton. Graduate of Topeka High School, class of 1968. United in marriage to Sheila Sidebottom on July 7, 2007 in Las Vegas, NV. He was employed as a Restaurant Manager for Sandy's, Hardees, Judy's, Little Caesars, Burger King and Montgomery Ward over the course of his career. Butch was certified as a Santa Claus at a young age and loved bringing holiday joy to children as a Santa, in classrooms and at the restaurants he worked at. Butch was beloved by his family and circle of friends, they believe that there will truly never be another like him. He was always in a good mood, had a smile on his face and brought happiness to those he loved the most. He was a devoted grandpa; who greatly enjoyed attending his grandkid's sporting and school events. He was adored by his nieces and nephews. Butch was skilled at grilling and smoking meat. He liked listening to classic rock, and playing bass in his band, River Band Volume IV. Butch was a huge fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas Jayhawks. Survived by wife, Sheila; children, Beth (Curt) Kellermann, Michael Stockton and their mother, Suzanne Watkins; step-child, Christopher Sidebottom. Butch was a father figure to Britney Harrell, Glady Kies; and a "beloved papa" to Glady's children, Hannah, Daytona, Abe and Glady's grandchildren; grandchildren, Logan, Laynie, Cameron; siblings, John (Bonnie), Francis (Donna) Stockton, Janetta (Jeffrey) Araiza; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; special friend, Brenda (Tom) Finn. Preceded in death by his parents, and God daughter, Annie Stockton. A Celebration of Butch's life will be held in Kansas in the near future. Grace Funeral & Cremation Services assisted the family.
