Darrel F. Manring, 83 of Rockford died on August 19, 2016 in MapleCrest Care Center in Belvidere. Born Jan 31, 1933, son of Linzie and May Manring in Geff, IL. Veteran of US Army. He retired from NIU in DeKalb, IL. Darrel enjoyed camping, he loved a campfire & cooking over the camp fire. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Kay; daughters Cindy (Mark) Altenburg of Steward, IL; Donna (Tom) Manring of McFarland, WI; daughter-in-law, Charlene Franks, of Rockford, IL; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Kelly (Marietta) Manring, sister Myrna (Jerry) Ridgeway. Preceded in death by son Greg Manring; parents; sister, Ona Ford; brothers, Claude, Gene and Noel Manring. The family is grateful for the loving, compassionate care provided by the staff of MapleCrest Care Center staff and care provided by Transitions Hospice in his final days. Funeral service on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 11 a.m. at North Love Baptist Church, 5301 E. Riverside Blvd. Rockford. Pastor Dan Outler will officiate. Memorial visitation at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment in Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle. Grace Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family.
