Cynthia Ann Smaha, 60, of Rockford went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 28, 2025. Born on September 8, 1965 in Tiskilwa, Illinois. Daughter of Cletus and Thetis (Mayo) Sims. Cindy graduated from Tiskilwa High School, Class of 1984. Cindy was united in marriage to Randy Smaha on April 25, 2014. She was a highly skilled and detail oriented Administrative Assistant, she began her career at St. Mark Lutheran Church. She later worked at Heartland Community Church (Forest City), where she also served as the Wedding and Funeral Coordinator. She was most recently employed at Rock Valley College where she worked as an Administrative Assistant and later accepted a role as Student Placement Coordinator. She loved helping the students achieve their educational goals and assisting with placement in various internships. While employed at Rock Valley College, Cindy completed her associate's degree in 2019. Cindy had a great love for people. She always had a smile on her face and approached each day with a joyful spirit. She was loved by her colleagues throughout her career and so many appreciated for her positive outlook. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, she truly lived out her Christian faith and values each day, striving to make people feel included, accepted and loved. Cindy attended Alcoholics Anonymous and Overeaters Anonymous; and was active in the Celebrate Recovery Program, along with other recovery programs and loved helping people. Her life experience and heart for helping others was treasured. She volunteered at the Rockford Rescue Mission and enjoyed visiting the Winnebago County Jail to pray and share scripture. Cindy was one of those women who always looked flawlessly put together, complimenting her fashion sense with the perfect makeup, nail polish and accessories. She loved to shop and could find the most amazing deals. Cindy started a YouTube Channel called, "Living Your Best Life" where she shared her faith and other words of wisdom. Survived by her husband, Randy Smaha; step-children, Marc (Laken) Smaha, Steven (Peyton) Smaha; step-grandchildren, Rory, Liz, Elliot; siblings, Dennis Sims, Jeffrey Sims, Melissa Sims, Josie (Joe) Rietz; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; mother-in-law, Marilyn Smaha; brother-in-law, Dan (Joan) Smaha, beloved Beagle, Daisy; and a circle of treasured friends. Preceded in death by her parents; brother, Michael Sims and father-in-law, Tom Smaha. Visitation on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 11 am to 1 pm, followed by a Celebration of Cindy's life at 1 pm at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services; 4301 N. Main St. Rockford. Pastor Leonard Davis will officiate. Cindy requested that memorials be made in her memory in lieu of flowers to Forest City Church, reflecting her belief that we should help those in need.
