Cynthia "Cindy" Jo Garcea, 70, of Loves Park went to be with God on May 15, 2021. Born April 30, 1951 in Rockford; daughter of Burdette "Bud" and Marion (Monson) Johnson. Graduate of East High School in 1969 and Northern Illinois University in 1976, where she obtained her Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education. She was united in marriage to Joseph "Joe" Garcea on March 18, 1972 at Salem Lutheran Church. Cindy was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and later on Heartland Community Church. She was a talented seamstress and made beautiful blankets and sewed endless Cub Scout patches onto uniforms. Cindy loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with all seven of her grandsons. Cindy retired from RegEllen, where she worked in inside sales. Survived by her husband; sons, Rev. Joey (Rev. Tiffany) Garcea, Jeff (Bonny) Garcea; grandsons, Aidan, Brayden, Owen, Peyton, Landen, Noah, Ben; sister, Chery (Jim) Scheidt; sisters-in-law, Diana (Tom) Johnson, Debbie (George) Lawson; nieces and nephews, Jill (Matthew) Hecker, Jenna Scheidt, Anne Pierce, Mark (Rebecca) Johnson; and special family friend, Jeremy Biddle. Preceded in death by her parents, father and mother-in-law, Gloria and Joe Garcea and brother, Bradley Johnson. Memorial Visitation and Open House, Thursday, May 20, 2021 1 to 2 p.m. at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 4301 N. Main St. Rockford. Graveside Service at 3 p.m. at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery, Rev. Joey and Rev. Tiffany Garcea will officiate. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
