Constance "Connie" Linda Cardey, 69, of Rockford died September 6, 2022. Born March 25, 1953 in Rockford; daughter of Gerald and Barbara (Sundstrom) Mousel. United in marriage to Charles Cardey Jr. on April 30, 1982 in Rockford. Connie worked many years as a lead person for the Counselor Company. She later retired from Greenlee Textron where she had worked as a welder. She enjoyed camping, comedy acts such as Jeff Dunham and George Carlin, reading mysteries, playing games on her computer, watching Little House on the Prairie and The Waltons. Non-stop. 24 hours a day. She spent many hours towards the end coloring in adult coloring books. Survived by daughter, Amanda (Mike) Bohn; grandchildren, Samantha (Jeremy) Johannes, Brianna (Kevin Riley) Lander, Cain (Lyra Monaghan) Lander, Cadin Bohn; great-grandchildren Lane and Mason Johannes; siblings, Rosanna (Randy) Ray, Todd Mousel, Vanessa (Scott) Edwards, Lori (Mike Gane) McElveny; honorary daughter, D'Lynn Barr; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and special friend, Laura Wright. Preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jimmy Carr Jr., grandson, Jesse Carr and best friend, Marjorie Mayor. Amanda is grateful to Connie's special nephew, Daniel Starnes for his help and kindness over the years and to Dave and Tricia Potter for helping Connie move and making her new space warm and comfortable. Visitation Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 1 pm to 3 pm, followed by a celebration of life at 3 pm at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 4301 N. Main St. Rockford. Cremation rites will be accorded.
