Clare Olen (Pete) West, 77, of Rockford died on March 1, 2016 in SwedishAmerican Hospital. Born on September 5, 1938 in Worthington, MO, son of Aulbry and Fern (Veach) West. United in Marriage to the love of his life Martha Wilson on November 18, 1961 in Rockford. Clare retired in 2000 from Hamilton Sundstrand. He was a proud member of the Eagle's Club. He enjoyed camping and was a sports enthusiast. He is best known by all for his funny jokes and stories. His greatest love and special joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survived by his wife; daughters, Michelle (James) Bennett, Katrina West all of Rockford; grandchildren, Kealy and Kaylen Fitzsimmons, Aulbry and Colton West; step-grandchildren, Jenna and Ariel Bennet, and Paige (Austin) Bigger; step-great-granddaughter, Alice Mae Bigger; sisters, Kerrill Bolen and Lee West, both of Rockford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, and brother Larry West. Clare's family is grateful to Dr. Einhorn, the oncology staff, and the ICU team at SwedishAmerican for the exceptional care they all provided. Celebration of Life on June 10, 2016 at 6 p.m. at the Eagle's Club, 3829 11th Street, Rockford.
