Christine "Chris" Berger, 59, of Rockford went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at 12:08 p.m. in Amberwood Care Centre. She was born on December 20, 1952, in Elwood, NE, daughter of Rodney and Evelyn (McPherson) Berger. Obtained her Masters Degree in Christian Education from Hyles-Anderson College in Crown Point, IN. Chris worked as a CNA for 20 years in Denver, CO. In 2006, she retired and relocated to Rockford. She enjoyed reading good books, drinking coffee and was a follower of Jesus Christ. She is survived by her mother, Evelyn Weyenberg, of Holland, MI; siblings, Stephen (Sandee) Berger of Rockford, Ralph Berger of Joliet, Paul (Mary) Berger of Rockford, Karyn (Walter) Hermann of Syracuse, NY, Arnie Berger of Alaska; step-siblings Carol (Jim) Winslow, Zeeland, MI, Dorothy (Jim) Mann, Wheaton and Phil (Nancy) Weyenberg, Maine. Also survived by her nieces and nephews Matt (Jackie) Berger, Machesney Park, Sarah (Doug) Dean, Phoenix, Drew (Tracy) Berger, Jeff Berger, Stephen Berger, Kelly Boozell, Charlotte Worley and Randy Worley all from Rockford and great-nieces and nephews Isabella, Mason, Kess, Kylie, Jordan, Samantha from Rockford, Haleigh and Abby, Phoenix. Her best friend Betty Mason, Denver, CO. She was preceded in death by her father, and her step-father, Henry Weyenberg. A Celebration of Chris' life will be on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Heartland Community Church, 1280 S. Alpine Rd. Rockford. Pastor Matt Kitchen will officiate.
