Charles "Chuck" N. Salberg, 73, went to be with the Lord on January 20, 2020. Born in Rockford, IL to John and Ruth (Tholin) Salberg. He was part of the first graduating class at Guilford High School, attended UW Whitewater for 2 years before joining the Marine Corps Reserves for 6 years. Chuck is survived by his loving wife, of nearly 50 years, Sara (Stavlund); his children, Dirk (Sarah) Salberg; Luke (Brandi) Salberg; Jessica (Joel) Hartong; 9 grandchildren; sibling, Adina (Dave) Ewaldz; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents and brother Robert Salberg.
He was the owner of Potter Form and Tie Co. for over 30 years, volunteered for numerous organizations including Kids Around the World, First Evangelical Free Church, Heartland Community Church, Rockford Christian School, and Salvation Army. He enjoyed baseball, antique trucks, traveling and working with his friends. He could be found most mornings at Stockholm Inn joking with young and old alike about the White Sox and the Packers. Some of Chuck's personal achievements: Chicago Marathon finisher, Colt League World Series participant, Boone County Fair Demolition Derby champion and many worldwide playground installations.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to Samaritan's Purse. Visitation on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Heartland Community Church, 1280 South Alpine Rockford, Illinois from 4 pm to 6 pm with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 6 pm.
