Charles "Chuck" "Charlie" V. Barker, 86, of Shirland died on December 6, 2017. Born February 24, 1931 in Freeport, son of Verdi and Grace (Reimer) Barker. Graduate of Hononegah High School class of 1949. United in Marriage to Carol Roth on June 16, 1951 in Shirland. Charlie was the owner of Barker Excavating, retiring at the age of 82. In his younger years, he served as a volunteer with the Shirland Fire Department. He enjoyed the outdoors, traveling across the country with his wife and young children on camping excursions. Chuck loved spending time outdoors. Survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Carol; daughters, Lori (Tim) Atz of Durand, Marsha (Willard) Conklin of Rockton, Vicki Barker of Shirland; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; and brother, Duane (Carol) Barker of Florida. Preceded in death by his parents. Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 12-2 p.m. at the Shirland Fire Department. 3086 Mitchell St. Shirland.
