Carla May Brewer, 79 of Byron, Illinois died on February 11, 2013 at 2:09 a.m. at Neighbor's Nursing Home. Carla was born on February 4, 1934 in Leavenworth, Kansas; daughter of Dr. Harry A. and Mildred (Pohley) Gerber. Carla married Edgar LeRoy Vinson, Jr. on June 19, 1954, together they had two children; Lee and Carl. He preceded her in death in 1964. Carla married Farrell Brewer on December 30, 1965. Carla loved animals, was an avid reader and a member of the Oregon Woman's Club. She received her Associate Degree from Rock Valley College, was formerly employed at H&R Block as an accountant, and owned a Sears Catalog Store with her husband, Farrell. Carla is survived by her husband of 47 years; her children, Edgar "Lee" LeRoy (Mayleen) Vinson III of Haysville, KS, Carl Robert (Elizabeth) Vinson of Belvidere, Terry Ray (Natalie) Brewer of Oak Park, Dr. Johnna May (Martin) Gueorguieva of Elmwood Park; grandchildren, Micaela Vinson, Brendan (Megan) Vinson, Aidan Finn Brewer, Corrin Patrick Brewer; great-grandchild, Connor Lee Vinson; siblings, Melissa (Mark) Allen of Baltimore, MD, Paula Sanchez of Kansas City, KS, Johanna Gray of Oklahoma City, OK; and three nieces and two nephews. Memorial Service on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 1340 South Alpine Rd. Rockford. Rev. Scott Schmidt will officiate.
