Bonita M. Meissen, 82, of Rockford, died at 3:00 pm on Monday, February 22, 2010 at Alden-Park Strathmoor. Born on March 18, 1927, in Rockford; daughter of Thomas and Ethel Ostrem. United in Marriage to Clement Meissen on November 14, 1953 in Durand. Bonita will be remembered as a loving wife and homemaker who was devoted to her family. Her hobbies included looking at family photos, bird-watching, knitting, and watching the Cubs. She also enjoyed playing Royal Rummy for many years in her neighborhood card club, and at one time served as president of the Durand Women's Club. Survived by husband Clement and son Mark of Rockford; son Scott (Monica) and their daughter Rebecca of Dubuque, IA. Preceded in death by her parents. The family would like to thank all of the family and friends that acted as caregivers, whether it was taking her to an appointment or just coming to visit. The family would also like to thank those at Medina and Alden-Park Strathmoor Nursing Homes, Rockford Memorial Hospital and Heartland Hospice for their loving care. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010, from 10:30 to 11:00 am followed immediately by a Celebration of Life Service in the community room at Alden-Park Strathmoor, 5668 Strathmoor Dr., Rockford, IL 61107.
