Betty Faye Mitchell, 93, of Rockford died on October 4, 2023. Born August 11, 1930 in Valley Park, MO. Daughter of George and Bernice Taylor. United in marriage to Carl Mitchell on February 21, 1947 in Valley Park, MO. Betty retired from Woodward Governor, where she worked in the cafeteria. She attended Redeemer Church, and volunteered in the gift shop of Greencastle on Mulford, where she lived and made many wonderful friends. Betty loved to travel all over the world. She was fiercely independent and was still tooling around town in her car until the end of her life. It could be difficult for her family to meet her for lunch, because she was so active and social; they often had to make plans far in advance. She had a circle of close friends that she enjoyed spending time with. Betty, along with her friend circle participated in "Birthday Club," where they gathered to celebrate each other, she loved playing poker, dominos and was a fierce croquet player. She will be greatly missed by her entire family, who couldn't have asked for a better mom, grandma, great-grandma and great-great grandma. Survived by her children; Terry Timmer, Toni Cooper, Michael (Michele) Mitchell, Traci (Kurt) Heckman; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband; son-in-laws, Thomas Timmer, Michael Harris and Jim Cooper. Memorial Visitation on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 10 am to 11 am, followed by a Celebration of Betty's life at 11 am at Redeemer Church, 5501 Windsor Rd. Loves Park. Pastor John Dirkse will officate. Cremation rites have been accorded. Share a memory or condolence at
