Betty J. Bowker, 84, of Rockford died on February 6, 2015 in Rockford. Born on April 12, 1930 in Mechanicsville, IA, daughter of Charles and Edna (Adams) Umbdenstock. United in Marriage to Melvin Bowker on April 17, 1948 in Davenport, IA. Betty retired from Ideal Uniform, after30 years, where she was employed as a Loading Supervisor. She participated in bowling for 60 years, until the age of 80. She was a talented bowler, and was inducted into the Women's Bowling Hall of Fame in 1996. She enjoyed attending both state and national bowling tournaments with her sister. Survived by sons, Allen (Janette) Bowker of Rockford, Ronald (Linda) Bowker of Rockford, and Roger (Brucette) Bowker of Ocala, FL; 3 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Marcia Green of Laurel, MD, Sharon (Richard) Turner of Muscatine, IA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Maxine Volker and brother, Bob Umbdenstock. Funeral Service Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Runge Mortuary and Crematory, 838 East Kimberly Road, Davenport, IA, with visitation at noon until the time of service. Additional visitation on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 1340 South Alpine Rd. Rockford, IL – at Colonial Village.
