Bette (Betsy) Elaine Zimbelman, 87, passed away on May 2, 2014. She was born August 26, 1926 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Fred and Lena Brackney. As a child, her family moved to Canon City, Colorado where she spent many years along the banks of the Arkansas River near the Royal Gorge. She graduated from Canon City High School and then served in the US Navy stationed at Great Lakes Naval Air Station. She returned to the Denver area where she worked in the financial funds field, and where she met her husband to be Lawrence (Larry). After marrying in 1967, they and son Fred transferred to Rockford where Larry worked for Sundstrand ATG in the Turbine Systems Research Laboratory until his retirement in 1991. She enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman under Larry's guidance. She holds a World Record catch for Atlantic Salmon netted in Lake Michigan. She enjoyed her bowling league and friends, and was always up to spending some time at the casinos on the Mississippi River. Living in Davis Junction, she was a regular around the Stillman Valley and New Milford area where she had many friends. Betsy was preceded in death by her husband Larry, parents, and older sisters Dorothy (OR) and Doris (CO). She is survived by son Fred and daughter-in-law Patricia of Tulsa, OK, and grandson Ryan of Seattle, WA. Everyone she touched always came back for more of her wit, great sense of humor, and outgoing personality. She will never be forgotten by those who had the pleasure her of company.
