Barbara J. Young, 61 of Rockford died July 19, 2011 in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born August 26,1949 in Creston Iowa; Daughter of David Young and Doris Young Rowe. Barbara graduated from Rockford East High School in 1967. In 1984 she moved to Mississippi where she earned a certificate in tool and die making, and worked at Delta Tool, retiring in 1995 as a proud member of the Steel Workers Union. Barbara was a kind and caring person, She loved to cook, to celebrate holidays with her family, to read, and to add to her many collections. She will be sadly missed by her son David Medland of Rockford; sisters Shari Soltis, Rhonda(Tim Stadel) Engle, both of Rockford, Kelli (Joe) Roccaforte of Machesney Park; nieces and nephews Nicole (Matthew) Sment, of Madison Wi., Deneile (Brent Tobin) Soltis of Viroqua Wi., Daniel and Stephanie Engle, Kelci Cox all of Rockford, Christian Sellnow of Machesney Park; and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, step father Jack Rowe, and brother-in-law Dennis Soltis. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
