Barbara Sigrid Balstad, 82, of Loves Park, IL died on June 2, 2024. Born December 2, 1941 in Cleveland, OH; daughter of Robert and Grace (Fennell) Balstad. Graduate of Shaw High School. Barbara majored in Music/Voice and English at the Cleveland Institute of Music. She was employed as a Receptionist for Allstate Insurance and prior to her retirement, as a dispatcher for Sears Holdings Corporation. Barbara had a beautiful voice and was a talented singer. She performed with the SELREC Singers Club of South Euclid, OH and she was a social butterfly, who made friends wherever she went. Barb's family was very important to her, she especially loved spending time with her grandsons. Barbara loved all things dogs and she always had her beloved dog, Bella by her side. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed going to the movie theater, playing solitaire and bingo. A spiritual person who surrounded herself with angels and all things purple, as it was her favorite color. Bar Survived by her daughter, Melissa (Elsworth "Bud") Hansen; grandsons, Thorsten (Kimberly Baugh) Hansen, Bjorn Hansen, Gunther Hansen; her brother, Bruce Balstad. Preceded in death by her parents.
